Kids/Tween Test

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I took a mini trip to Julian area for my first Kids/Tween test shoot! In total I styled 10 kids, and the crazy part is that most of them modeled for Target, Guess, Ralph Lauren..you name it. They're making more money than all of us combined...nonsense. Haha! After doing several photo shoots for adults/teenagers, it was a breath of fresh air working with kids who are constantly having fun. Below are a couple of my favorites from the shoot!

Spring 2011 Editorial

I had the pleasure of working with an amazing team back in September. Photographer Nicole Hill wanted to do a spring 2011 editorial, which included 8 looks. Some key Spring '11 trends that I noticed on the runways were: hints of sea foam green, white, neutrals, lace, sheer (my fave!), pastel floral patterns, and hints of black and gold. Below are the edited images from the shoot.

My favorite outfit! I layered a lace skirt, with a ruffled green dress and the oversized knit to add dimension.

Layered three pieces-nude dress, long sleeve tunic, and lace top.

I had this vintage gold dress that went down to the knees. I transformed it by pinning the skirt to make it shorter and put a chunky knit sweater and the black lace top over so that the skirt is just a "pop!" in the outfit. ;) It was the last outfit of the day and made that outfit on the spot. Good ending! Haha

I can't believe it. Tomorrow I will be back on a plane to San Diego.

New York--you made this trip rough, tiring, crazy, yet insanely beautiful and memorable. The experiences that I have made and knowledge that I learned from this 3 month adventure was definitely worth it. Last Tuesday I ended my internship at the fashion magazine. It's so crazy how fast everything went. On Thursday I spent a couple of days with my friend from San Diego. We talked a lot about our futures and it made us worry like nooo other haha. The internship taught me a lot and made me want to continue my aspiration in making it in the fashion industry. It is fast-paced, cut-throat, and very very rare to land an entry level job in the magazine industry. I accepted the fact that there are hundreds of other college girls just like me who most likely have more experience than me. With that said, I accepted it and moved on. Since I am in San Diego for another year, all I can do is gain more experience that will set me apart from the rest of the fashion hopefuls. I am unbelievably thankful for all the people I have met, each person taught me a new lesson and inspired me to continue pursuing this dream. Once I am back in San Diego, I am thinking about starting with a clean slate and making my senior year at UCSD count. Thank you, New York for all of the amazing opportunities, and I will see you soon--pinky swear!!

Summer into Fall

The great part about Fall is that you can master the art of layering summer pieces into your new wardrobe. First off, try a long sleeved floral short dress with dark colored accents in the print. It is already a good transition piece with the darker hued color combos. Next, layer on a drape-waterfall knit vest, preferably in a dark color (brown, black, charcoal) and layer a faux fur vest on top of that to add dimension. Make sure the fur is a plain print, it will complement the floral prints as well. Top it off with sheer black tights (no patterns!), rugged booties to spice it up, and copper-toned jewelry to stick with the vintage feel. Below is my take on the perfect summer-to-fall look!

A: Great question! Since fall is right around the corner, it'd be great to play up some of your favorite trends for the upcoming season--leopard print, camel coats, military accents, etc.

--Layering is a great trick to spice up any outfit. Try pairing a girly, chiffon dress with a cropped print blazer, In the look below, it's best to have just one statement piece and balance it off with neutral pieces that have interesting textures. I love this Stella McCartney chiffon dress because it's flowy yet contrasts well with the leopard (trend alert!) blazer. You can edge it out even more with funky ankle booties or lace-up heels.

--Think minimal, tailored, and fun! The best way to look your best is to wear classic pieces that fit well to your body. Adding just a pop of color would make any outfit more interesting and appealing.

In this outfit below, I balanced the outfit with neutral colored bottoms (like these gray harem pants) and a colored fitted blazer or a draped coat. I love the coat on the right because it's very slouchy and oversized, but the belt cinches your waist to give shape. This fitted boyfriend blazer is a great touch of color, yet toned down enough for any look you're going for. Top it off with sleek black heels, a sheer white button-down, and few accessories. It's all about minimalism right? ;)

I told you before that I admire J.Crew's styling aesthetic, but now I want to tell you how much I love the way they capture their models' (or actors in this case) true essence through photos. This behind-the-scenes video of The Romantics photo shoot shows how the movie stars Katie Holmes, Adam Brody, Josh Duhamel, Malin Akerman, Jeremy Strong, and Rebecca Lawrence "look perfectly preppy and put together as they show off the cocktail designs collection".

My favorite part of the video is seeing their group shots and how they are all laughing and having a great time together. These shots are what I strive for when I do fun, lifestyle shoots. I am definitely keeping these looks as inspiration for a future photo shoot. ;)

You know that anxiety that you get when you purchase something online but unsure if it's the right size/fit on you? And once you excitedly open up the package, to your disappointment it just doesn't work out and definitely isn't as appealing as on the model online. THEN you have to spend even more money to just return it. Yeah I've been there, done that. But now, there's a solution for all our online-shopping problems!

Still in that summer rut? Well if it's still 90 degrees in your area like NYC, then this is a great go-to outfit. Jessica Alba was seen yesterday shopping in Soho wearing a light denim, knee-length skirt, a sheer dark gray tank top, and accessorized the look with a black pendant, caged wedges, skinny belt, and an oversize tote. The skirt is a great addition and really caught my eye. Though it's a simple piece, Alba modernized the "mom skirt" with the current fashion trends (sheer, short wedges, skinny belt, oversized bag). This outfit is comfortable, simple, yet very fashion-forward. What do you think?

Mulberry for Target

As I was sitting on the front steps of The Met soaking in the breezy New York air and people watching, my friend Jasmine reminded me about the Mulberry for Target collection coming out on October 10th. Since my senior year of college is closely approaching, I want to refresh my clothing collection and all the other necessities to start school off on the right track. One of those necessities is a knapsack/tote/satchel for my books. Mulberry's new collection for Target would be a great book bag--it's durable, has a simple yet classic shape, the color is neutral and can go with everything, and this style is screaming FALL 2010.

Who isn't going to get it?!

This is the style that I would love to get, unfortunately the Alexa bag isn't part of the collection but I sure hope they have a similar design. Three Ways to Style: Leopard Blazer

Though I've never been an avid fan of this fall trend, I'm starting to get used to it and even like it more and more. I finally succumbed to the trend after I bought these adorable leopard print wedges for only $12.95 at H&M!

After looking through Fall '10 runway shows, I noticed that a lot of designers styled it with very neutral, solid pieces that everyone has in their wardrobe. This blazer acts as the statement piece and can be accented with neutrals of different textures.

Below is my take on how to style a leopard print blazer in three different ways:

Shorts by Topshop
Sandals at Bloomingdale's

1. Take a simple black jersey dress and layer it up with chunky sweaters and nude-colored heels. Style it with skinny chain necklaces with a hint of black detailing.

2. This is the dressier look. Pair a flowy, silky, black romper with caged heels and gold chain necklaces.

3. The business attire outfit: pair a soft, sheer blouse with high waisted tweed shorts and finish it off with simple black flats and a short chunky necklace.

Have you seen those posts on the celebrity gossip sites about Betty White's new sweaters from Hoodie Buddie? A couple of months ago I did a campaign shoot for Hoodie Buddie before it was released. The images were used in MAGIC's Vegas trade show to promote the brand. The sweaters are pretty cool--on the strings attached to the sweater they have ear phones at the end with a built-in wire to attach your iPod. Here is a picture of me in one of their ads:

I recently visited Aldo's sister line, Spring Shoes' website and fell in love. They have a similar aesthetic to Aldo but more affordable. Outfit: Printed Sleeve Dress

After waiting for the delayed train in the morning for over an hour in the humidity, this dress was so light and airy--perfect for this horrible situation. I bought this dress for only $14.99 at Marshalls!!

It was such a great steal and the quality and detail was impeccable for such a low price. Another plus: it has big pockets! I paired this dress with my Nine West caged heels from DSW and put my hair up to show the back detail. Leopard print is one of fall's newest trends--though I'm not a huge fan of leopard, I do love animal prints!

I was browsing through Just Jared earlier this morning and came across this adorable picture of "Dan" and "Serena" shooting scenes for Gossip Girl in Central Park. The real-life couple complemented each other's style so well. I call it the casual-let's just walk around the park and look cute-look.

Blake Lively's outfit mixes two striped pieces together--the top in loose cotton fabric, and the mini skirt in a metallic shine. This is the right way to mix pieces with similar patterns together, make sure each one has different texture so that it's not too matchy-matchy. She tops off the outfit with a light blue, denim-like, fitted blazer to give it the overall casual vibe.

Penn Badgley is outfitted in a light denim-wash button down shirt that's flattering to this skin tone, fitted dark jeans and comfy brown loafers.

Don't you just want to skip your work day and aimlessly stroll around Central Park like this duo? It sure beats being in front of a computer screen all day. :-P

Chung is just oozing with confidence and grace with her effortless layering of a wool cape/coat, a metallic shine skirt, thin knee-high socks, and closed-toe oxfords. The reason why I love the neutral-color trend : it's timeless and will last forever.

Back in March (on Patrick's day!) I styled six models for a lifestyle test shoot with No Ties Management. It was my first big all day shoot--I had to style six models with at least 3-4 outfits each. I had to take the location, models' outfits, and theme into account to make the images look cohesive. It was such a great experience working with a talented team. I was perusing through blogs and this girl's look caught my eye. It was a pretty simple outfit--loose, sheer short-sleeved blue top with a feminine, flouncy skirt. But in between the two pieces was a knotted silk scarf being used as a belt. HOW CUTE was that?? The scarf made the outfit, and I dare you to try it too! Get any of your old silk scarves (or steal some from your mom) and play around with different looks. You can match the colors together or create a solid-colored outfit with a bright scarf to contrast it.

In honor of Pretty Little Liars premiering its newest episode tonight (who else is excited??), I want to share this amazing photo shoot of Lucy Hale from Who What Wear. Lucy Hale plays "Aria Montgomery" on PLL and is personally my favorite girl on the show. She is supposedly the edgier character with an insane style sense! This photo spread highlights the top fall trends and new ways on how to style pieces you may already have.

At the shoot, Lucy shares how she enjoys contrasting the girly and tough pieces together, "I like to look really feminine—I'm all about dresses, heels, hair and makeup—but then again, I'm also obsessed with my Steve Madden motorcycle boots."

Earlier I was reading Who What Wear's blog and saw the Fall '10 lookbook of Theory. They were styled by 14 top stylists in the industry--all were equally inspiring and had a definitive view in each one. Below is my favorite one, styled by Istvan Francer (Theory Women's design director). I love the long camel coat and the mix of neutral colors within the outfit. When I was making my weekly round to H&M after work on Friday, I noticed an interesting trend on the racks: There were fitted sweatpants located beside blazers and other business-like pieces. Really?? Sweatpants are IN? Though it sounds weird at first, I'm starting to get quite fond of the idea. Who wouldn't want to go to work in sweatpants?

My next question was, "How the heck do you style it?" That's when I went through several fashion blogs and scoped out some outfit ideas. Here is an outfit from Style Scrapbook that sold me on the new trend:

Style Inspiration: Jessica Stroup

Summer isn't over yet, ladies! Actress Jessica Stroup was on set July 29th shooting CW's hit show, 90210 wearing a cute summer outfit. The simplicity of Stroup's dress mixes well with the appealing blue/white print. The shape of the dress works with all body types--it's appealing and comfortable! Stroup used a skinny belt to create body definition and completed her look with edgy fold-over boots.

Below is an outfit I put together inspired by Stroup's look. This can be a great back-to-school outfit for those days when it still feels like summer.

The best part of this outfit is that the shoes steal the show. Leighton Meester keeps her top and bottoms in neutral colors yet spices up the outfit with these Derek Lam heels. The plum color and caged-like style brings much attention to her feet.

Tip--pair a simple outfit with statement shoes! But also make sure that the colors mesh well together. :)

The great thing about it is you can try any kinds of tops for this, just make sure it's long enough to tuck in your bottoms!

From my previous post you already know how excited I am for this Fall, especially when I get to spend the beginning of the season in beautiful NEW YORK! :) Ah it's going to be amazing. Style.com provides us fashion lovers with a guide to what's in straight from the runways. According to this, there are seven key fall trends to take note of when buying your new set of fall pieces.

Ladies, it's time to raid your mom and grandma's closets, seriously! I looked through my mom's closet when I visited home during Christmas vacation and noticed her countless sheer silky blouses, high waisted twill pants, polished tweed jackets, and of course the floral dresses that have a vintage feel to them. It was like going through a trendy vintage shop! Also, steal your mom's heavy knit sweaters and wraps and layer, layer, LAYER like crazy!

Oh, Olivia Palermo, you're a trickster. You're so mean and deceitful on The City yet everyone (including me) always puts that aside when we see your outfits looking effortlessly chic. How does she do it?! Someone please tell me. Her ingenious choice in mix-matching different prints/textures together create solid and well poised outfits that millions of fashionistas adore.

Palermo landed a cover on ASOS magazine for Autumn/Fall 2010. Here are three of my favorites. I am jumping up and down with excitement just thinking of what new coat I will buy haha! My top picks are the leather trimmed cape in camel (beige/camel are big this Fall!), the sheer blue printed dress, and the high waisted pants with insane detailing on the sides. I completed my junior year in college and about 3 days after my finals week I flew to New York City and will be staying here for three whole months! Like is a fashion website that is the primary source of "style inspiration for real people, by real people". The key features on their site are Trend Forecasting, which guides the readers to take the trends from the runways and apply it to their everyday style, Style Section, and LikeWise blog. The site keeps you up to date with what's "in" and provides readers with continuous street style inspiration.

One of my readers commented on my post back in January 2010 with a link to their website. I somehow overlooked the link and never saw it until now. Thankfully I did! One of the writers used one of my pictures as inspiration for an outfit post. Take a look at the link here.

Haiti Benefit Fashion Show

April 17th I coordinated the Haiti Benefit fashion show held at UCSD. We had three amazing designers - Fables by Barrie, Clover & Folly, and Ana Giselle. With 20+ models, designers, makeup artists, and hairstylists, there definitely was chaos throughout the entire day. After all the stress and craziness, the end result was amazing and I had the time of my life. Take a look at the behind the scenes video, produced by Manuel from The Final Statement.

La Jolla Fashion Film Festival

In the morning, I read on their facebook page that they were looking for photographers last minute because some canceled for that night. I told Kyle right away, and after a few calls and arrangements, we were both able to attend the event!

Last night was a night full of random surprises! I saw a few people I've worked with in past photo shoots. It was a great surprise and made the night even more fun and memorable. :) The short films were all amazing in their own way and it was a pleasure appreciating and sharing this art and experience with other like-minded individuals.

Project Ethos Fashion Show

Thursday night, I went to Project Ethos Fashion Show at On Broadway in downtown San Diego with Kyle and a few of the beautiful ladies from Fashion Quarterly! It was at a great venue with great people, and an awesome ambiance. It was even better since we got VIP seats and special treatment. ;) Here are a few pictures, taken by Kyle with The Final Statement. Hello everyone!

Oh man, it's been way too long since I last blogged. A lot has happened since then and I can't wait to share some of the highlights with you.

This past weekend was pretty intense! I coordinated a fashion show at UCSD for EMERGENCE: Benefit Party for Haiti. There were 20 models, 2 makeup artists, 3 hairstylists, and 3 designers. From 12-8pm it was nonstop chaos...I loved it! Despite all the stress and backstage drama, thanks to my FQ girls the show was a complete success! Jerry Leigh Photo shoot

Today I had a modeling job in LA for Jerry Leigh, featuring a new clothing item. We shot at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, there were eight models (4 girls, 4 guys), and tonss of outfits to shoot! We shot from 10am-6pm, it was very tiring, but also very fun watching TV, chillin/eating, and meeting some very talented people. :) It was a very rewarding experience, the crew was amazing and I hope to work with all of them again someday. The pictures from this shoot will be displayed in MAGIC show in Vegas. :)

Exquisite Weddings

Tuesday I assisted stylist, Kristi Brooks, on the Exquisite Weddings Magazine photo shoot. It was the bridesmaids and flower girl/ring boy shoot. The location was AMAZING. We were at this mansion that is rented out for weddings. The house is located all the way up Via de la Valle in Rancho Santa Fe..it was a trip driving there, haha. This was my first time assisting a professional wardrobe stylist, and it definitely was a great experience. I learned so much, Kristi was very helpful and gave me some great tips. Being a wardrobe stylist is a hard job...you need some muscle power as well. :P

Back to the Grind

It's the end of my first week back in school and I've already been so busy!! I'm so glad I'm relaxing with my loved ones tonight, I need to take a breather from this hectic week.

Tuesday; Fashion Quarterly Staff photo shoot. Try arranging 20+ staff members in a photo.

Wednesday; Class til 12, choreographed with Bucs for Fashion Quarterly's Dance Workshop! Then Keone's class and 220 practice. We are practicing for Vibe dance competition, which is on January 31st in UC Irvine! If you are in the area, PLEASE try to make it. 220's changing it up from The Bridge in December! I am so excited for all the changes, it's gonna be amazingg!

Thursday; I had my first paid job from Jet Set Models! I modeled for Dr. Jays (http://www.drjays.com/shop/G5-R37586/brand-new-gear.html?cm_re=Quick-_-Women-_-New!). It was a lot of fun, the people who I met were so friendly and chill and made the shoot very enjoyable! Here are a few of the screen shots/ pics of the outfits I modeled on the site:

Friday; Got a call from my agent Thursday night for an Adidas casting. So we made a last minute trip to LA! :) It was pretty chill, there were a lot of models so that was pretty intimidating. But the casting guy was really nice and made it a bit easier. ;D I have another casting on Monday for Kotex but I'm not sure if I can skip class..we'll see!!

Today; Had work for the first time in a MONTH at DSW! Hahaha it was really weird going back to work, but also pretty fun - I missed my coworkers!

Here are a few tips on how to style with sequined fashion pieces, provided by Style List (http://www.stylelist.com/2009/12/28/how-to-wear-sequin)
1. Mix and Match - put together simple pieces with over-the-top ones such as a sequined skirt with a plain loose tank top.
2. Try an Accessory - sequined shoes and hats also look great!
3. Keep lines simple - simple silhouettes are the best.
4. Look beyond black - sequined pieces look great on other colors besides black, experiment!
5. Don't overdo it - One sequined piece at a time is the best bet.

Goodbye 2009...

Don't you hate the feeling after Christmas? The excitements gone, people start taking down their beautiful decorations, and the holiday spirit slowly diminishes. Sadly, I didn't have that much of a holiday spirit as I would have liked to, but that's the pain of getting older and facing reality. This year really proved to me that I need to set my priorities straight and keep up with my responsibilities, or else things will backfire. It's been a challenging year, but very eventful and serendipitous nonetheless! Focusing on my career is on the top of my list, and with that, finishing college is number one. I can't believe how fast college is going, 1 1/2 more years! Once that's done, I'm ready to see the world and let it take me in. I'm itching with excitement just thinking of what I can do in my future, what I can hopefully accomplish, and what I will learn and grow from through new experiences. In 2009 alone, I have made so many changes in myself and strengthened my determination and drive for pursuing fashion/modeling/dance. People keep asking me how I am able to juggle so much in my life. The only answer I can really give is that I know in the long run, it will all be worth it. My sacrifices, obstacles, and tough times will keep me motivated to reach my goal of making it in the fashion industry, whether it be through fashion design, styling, or modeling! I am very proud of myself and will not look back on regrets. I must move forward.

Here are some highlights of 2009 for me. It's so great to look back on all the great times I had this year. Thank you 2009 for a memorable year.

Picture Catch Up!

Hello!! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! My Christmas was pretty relaxing, had dinner with the cousins on Christmas eve, opened presents, visited family in Alameda, and then went to Kyle's Christmas party! :) And of course, here are pictures throughout my Christmas celebrations:

This was the first year me and Kyle spent Christmas day together. It definitely was an amazing night. :)

No time to rest!! The day after Christmas I scheduled two shoots that day. The first one was with a model (Connie) from LA and we did catalog-type shots. The second model was from the Bay Area and we planned to do an editorial shoot, but she didn't show up! Grrr, didn't even respond or whatever. So, the makeup artist wanted to do makeup on me and we had a fun beauty shoot! :) It was a good shoot though, Connie was really good and seemed to have a lot of fun on set, which is always a good thing. ;D We are planning to reschedule the editorial shoot on New years DAY. I know, huh? But I really love the concept so I'm dying to do it before I leave!! Here are some behind the scenes shots:

Yesterday I styled a photo shoot and theme was inspired by Burberry's new ad campaign with Emma Watson! We shot in Mission San Jose area - right beside my church, St. Joseph's in Fremont! The thing I love the most about photo shoots is that I see the beauty in places that I see everyday. I've been going to this church ever since I was little, but I never appreciated the beauty of Mission San Jose and the surrounding areas until now.

Why is it so windy in the bay?! :( I miss the sunny San Diego weather already. During my winter break, I have been doing photo shoots consistently - for modeling and styling. Since I have the free time, I decided to make use of this time and continue building my wardrobe styling portfolio.

We shot in the salon first, and must I say, it was the CRAZIEST salon I have ever seen!! It looked so old and vintage, the brick walls, the crazy furniture, paintings, and fixtures, really made this salon have personality. We also shot at San Jose City Hall. The location was perfect - looked so futuristic, but the damn wind was a pain! Here are some behind the scenes pics.

Good to be home

Done with finals, school, and academic stress for 3 weeks. It is much, MUCH needed.
Since I haven't been able to blog because of finals, etc, get ready for a MAJOR update! haha

Just experienced an amazing weekend with my dance group - 220. Competed at The Bridge and performed at Traffic. I'm so proud of us!

Designer and Models before the fashion show!

I styled the wardrobe for a photo shoot last Sunday and the wardrobe was "High end casual beach wear". The photo shoot was at this La Jolla house, which was RIGHT next to the beach, it was insane!! Garden Party Fashion Show

Friday I modeled for Garden Party Clothing - designs by Eleonore Santos. She is such a talented designer with an impeccable eye for style. Her designs portray the youthful, feminine innocence that all girls love. The fashion show was at Tunes&Threads - the benefit show in Kearny Mesa. Here are shots of me on the "runway", haha. :)

Hello everyone! Happy Thanksgiving-Eve! :D

I am sitting on my comfy leather couch at home watching DISNEY CHANNEL and relaxing after an amazing dinner with the family. It definitely feels good to be home. <3 I can't wait to relax, get away from school, work, and my other activities for a weekend to just rejuvenate myself for the next two hardest weeks of school. One more week then FINALS. I am almost there, so so close to CHRISTMAS! That is motivation enough, lol. So far, so good. :)

Update from this past week:

On Monday we had our Cover Girl shoot for Fashion Quarterly Magazine (www.fashion-quarterly.com)! It was a lot of fun and great to work with new and creative people. Here are a few of the behind the scenes shots from the shoot. As you will see, we became very creative and turned my dining room into a home studio. Very convenient right?!

Tuesday we had our first meeting with the new staff of the magazine! It was a lot of fun to meet new people who are just as passionate as we are. I can't wait to meet the rest of the staff, I can tell it's going to be a great year. Right after the meeting at 10pm I had to go to 220 practice. We are really working very hard for our next competition in December and with the rate that we're going, I'm sure we'll be great. :)

Next Friday I am modeling in a local fashion show in San Diego for a benefit concert/show! There will be a LOT of talent, artists, and designers to make it a great show! I am modeling for Garden Party Clothing - her designs are very feminine, innocent, and fun! Definitely my kind of style. ;)

Yesterday I had a beauty test shoot with a makeup artist I worked with before, Van Tran, and a photographer who I wanted to work with for the longest time, AJ Garcia. Thankfully we all found a day that worked for all of us! :)

The theme was all just beauty shots - first we started with bare, the "no-makeup" look. Then we went to more natural makeup, added darker eyeshadow and liner, fake eyelashes, but very clean and simple. Next we got into color and experimented with that, and finally went with dark purples, glitter, silver rhinestones, and FUN! :) Haha!

The thing that I love about beauty shots is that it really tests my ability to change my facial expressions. I really have to pay attention to where the light is, take into account the way I angle my face, and at the same time be fierce without moving too much. It definitely was a challenge. :P But we all definitely had such a great time, setting up a studio in Van's house, and enjoying the comfort of being in a house made everything more relaxing and comfortable. We got some great shots and I can't wait to show you!!

Photo shoot 1: Check!

Hello everyone!!

I am unbelievably happy and I feel so accomplished with the Fashion Quarterly shoot yesterday! We are preparing for our Winter Issue, which will come out on January 19! There was a lot of stress coordinating with EVERYONE involved in the shoot, making sure we found a time frame that matched everyone's schedules, figuring out the theme, wardrobe, hair, makeup, LOCATION (there were some complications with that, haha), and much much more! I definitely surprised myself. With coordinating everything on my own, it was the biggest shoot I have ever planned and directed. And after last night when everyone left, I felt in awe. The whole team was amazing. With being outside in the cold for a good three hours and doing hair, makeup, and wardrobe in the DARK (with the help of iPhone and cell flashlights, haha!), everyone still had such a positive attitude and kept rocking it til the very end.

To my whole team yesterday, I want to thank each and every one of you for creating such an amazing and inspiring shoot! I definitely learned a lot, met some beautiful people, and had the time of my life doing what I love to do. I truly felt lucky to have you all be a part of the shoot, we are such a great team! :D

Just Dance.

Hey everyone! Hope you guys are having a great Friday night! :)

I just finished my midterms! Now all I have left are FINALS...eh. But as of now it is time to relax, have fun, and enjoy life before the brutal hours of studying for finals begins.

This past week I finally had time to take dance classes at Culture Shock (www.cultureshockdancecenter.com) and it really felt like a breath of fresh air. Keone Madrid teaches on Wednesday nights and his class this past Wednesday was unbelievable. I am starting to hate how the whole trend in hip hop dance is isolations, hits, and who can make the best moves. His routine really showed me why I love to dance. It was sooo much fun, I was really able to let myself go and adapt my own style to the routine. Thank you so much Keone for an amazing class!!

On another note:
I am planning our first photo shoot for the Winter 2010 Issue this MONDAY and I am too excited, nervous, anxious, giddy, etc etc! :D I have been working on this shoot for a long time, and with the help of my editors and staff, I think it's going to be a great issue! We are about to interview some applicants for our open positions as well, and I am so amazed on how many applications we received this time around! Fashion Quarterly is definitely going in the right direction. :D We are expecting the Winter 2010 issue to release by mid January, so keep a look out! I'll definitely keep you all posted.

Happy 5 Year Anniversary to me and my boyfriend, Kyle! :)

I can't believe it's already 5 YEARS, what the heck?! Through all of the good times and tough times, we were able to get through it all together and everything definitely made us stronger as a couple. I love you baby! :)

Here is something that Kyle wrote during the first year we started dating, and I've kept it ever since. :) He's an amazing writer and his view on love is truly on point.

Falling in love is an indescribable experience. The precious moments before, during, and even loves aftermath leaves lasting impressions on our souls. Unfortunately, too many of us focus on the sorrowful heartbreaks when we say goodbye to our loves. We forget the walks on the beach, the phone calls just to say hello, and the kisses on the cheek just to say I love you. We forget that they were the ones that held our hands as we journey through our life, absorbing life at its best and worst. The journey is so much more important than the destination. Whether or not that journey comes to an end is just one moment in our lives that pale in comparison to the hundreds we shared with our special someone. Fact of the matter is, love does not come to an end. As we look back in our personal timeline, those moments we shared are moments when we felt loves tender embrace, when actions spoke louder than words, when there were no awkward silences. We look back and see that we were so willing to put ourselves in the most vulnerable position and not fear the outcome. Our faith drove us. Our hearts drove us. Our hearts DRIVE us.

What many people often fail to comprehend that love is not just a feeling expressed outwardly towards another person, but that love must first exist within us to reciprocate to someone else. It is necessary to understand and feel that we are worth the love that we give and share; that we love who we see, looking past the exterior, delving deeper into our inner being.

We are then able to see that love does not come to an end. It exists within us waiting for that heartfelt smile. Yes, we walk away from lost loves hurt that they no longer love us the way we want them to, but we must appreciate the fact that during the moments of togetherness, we were in love. As much as we want to hate them, want to rid their memories from our minds, they exist in memories as reminders that we are capable of love. We carry within us the ability to make others smile, but more importantly, to make ourselves smile."

Motivation, motivation, motivation...

Last night I had a great talk with one of my good friends who danced with me on 220 but moved to LA to work and all that fun stuff! It was so great catching up with her, we talked about her new, AMAZING job, her struggles to get there, and we shared our stresses, obstacles, and the good things that are happening right now. :)

CJ is such an amazing and talented person, and with the way that we were talking, I felt like I was kind of walking on a similar path of hers. I am currently taking the same major she did at UCSD and honestly, I just want to get out of college and do something more creative with my life, just like how she felt. I am getting extremely antsy and I want to explore the world and see what I can offer it. She was in my exact situation right now. But she told me to keep on going and to stay motivated because in the end it will all be worth it. And I truly believe her because of what she has been able to accomplish already! She's been giving me so much advice on how to stay focused in school and how to succeed in the crazy Econ classes that I have to take. She mentioned that we live until we're 70-80 years old (hopefully more!) and almost everyone changes their career path at least once in their lifetime. Even if you majored in something in college does not mean that you are guaranteed to get a job in that specific field. I believe that my major at UCSD (Management Science) will help me gain the tools and knowledge for what I'm really passionate about - fashion. Even though I break down sometimes and stress out with everything that I'm involved in, I feel like everything that I am doing will benefit me in the long run. No one else is doing everything that I am doing, which makes me want to work even harder to reach my career goals and prove people who have doubted me before. Thank you so much for the amazing talk, CJ, love you! :)

Jet Setting to Hollywood

Happy Monday lovely readers!
I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! My weekend was filled with fun, relaxation, catching up on school, and did I mention fun??

Today, my boyfriend Kyle and I drove to Hollywood for my first audition with Jet Set Models! The audition was for Pottery Barn Teen (www.pbteen.com). The building was in this hugee CNN building on Sunset Boulevard - which already made it pretty intimidating. I was so nervous of LA traffic and if we would make it in time - thankfully, after almost three hours on the road, we made it! The audition overall went pretty smoothly! There were only two other models from Otto Models who were before me. I just had to sign in and complete a little form. When I went inside the room, they took a few pictures of me, then videotaped me when I answered a few questions about myself. Seriously only took me 10 minutes! All the anxiousness and anticipation before the audition just went away like POOF** lol! I won't find out how I did until next week, wish me luck! <3

Designer Spotlight: Are we related??

We have to be related, right?? :P

He just debuted his Spring 2010 collection in a LA Fashion Week on October 15th. I have never heard of this designer yet until I stopped by Apparel News and read about the recent shows at LA Fashion Week. And of course, his name definitely caught my eye.

Oliver Tolentino has been well established in the Philippines and moved to Los Angeles to get into the American market. He had tremendous success in the Philippines, dressing and styling for their top female stars such as Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez, and many more. He specializes in both bridal and fashion, both I must say are very amazing. When I was looking through his most recent collection, I couldn't believe how detailed, colorful, and well-constructed his pieces were. The vibrancy of his pieces really sets him apart from other designers. The choice of color patterns for the pieces were genius! Here are some of my favorite looks from his Spring 2010 collection, enjoy!
